5 Things You MUST Know About EBiz Wholesale Sources [1]

July 17th, 2017

“5 things you MUST know about EBiz Wholesale Sources”, Day 1:

ARE THEY REAL?

If you’re selling products online, you need products to sell. That means you need wholesale sources of products to sell. If you’re going to make any MONEY selling products online, you need products you can sell at a PROFIT. That means you need wholesale sources that are REAL, and actually leave you a Profit Margin between their wholesale price, and the price you can reasonably charge at retail online. That’s like saying 2 + 2 = 4. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, in the world of EBiz Wholesale Sourcing, 2 + 2 most often = 0. Meaning 0 Profit Margin for YOU. Well, that doesn’t work, does it?

So WHY does this happen?

A Wholesale Product Source Directory/Service is the best, fastest way to locate wholesalers you can buy products from to sell at a profit. Unfortunately, there are a HUGE number of thieves and liars who constantly hype FAKE Wholesale Directories and Services. We call them Marketing Sharks, or Markesharks for short. The Markesharks create fake wholesale directories in 2 ways:

  1. Simply by going to Google and searching the word “wholesale”. Whatever comes back gets thrown into that fake directory.
  2. Purposely stacking that Directory with fake wholesalers who are simply made up (fictitious, imaginary, NOT real), and lead to sites designed to collect your personal (and yes, including your CREDIT CARD) information while PRETENDING to be a real wholesaler.

The word “Directory” implies something that contains information DIRECTING you to the information you need. In fact, Google (in it’s infinite Googly wisdom) defines “Directory” as “A book listing individuals or organizations alphabetically or thematically with details such as names, addresses, and telephone numbers.”

Of course, the word “book” is a little outdated at this point; Directories are much more often electronically delivered these days.

So, for example, the Phone Book (in print or online) is a Directory. The VERY FIRST “phone book” was created in New Haven, Connecticut in 1878 and listed 50 people, businesses and offices that actually had telephones. Of course it wasn’t really a book, it was just a piece of cardboard, but you get the idea.

The Phone Book is a bit more involved these days…a few more people have phones now.

So we often depend on either print or online versions of Phone Books to find phone numbers of people, businesses and many other places we need to call.

What if the Phone Book was FAKE? What if EVERY TIME you called a phone number from that Phone Book, you were connected to some person or recorded message that said “Hey, today’s your lucky day! You’ve just won a cruise around the world for free! (Just pay applicable taxes, fees, boarding charges, room charges and food add-on’s!)”, or “Thank you for calling. Because you called, your Phone Bill has automatically been charged $500,000 to help feed starving badgers in the Egyptian Desert”.

Or the ever-popular “You’re looking for Dave? Dave’s not here, man. But if you give me your name, address, Social Security number and bank account number, I’ll be sure to tell him you called.”

It would be HORRIFYING if most of the numbers in the Phone Book led directly to scams designed to cheat you out of your money. So why aren’t more people horrified that it actually DOES happen with almost every Home-based EBiz Wholesale Directory on the internet??

Look, this kind of thing doesn’t happen in the Phone Book because reputable Phone Companies are constantly researching, reviewing and updating the information in that Phone Book. Phone companies are LEGITIMATE. They’re not in business to cheat their customers or lead them into schemes that cost more and more money every time they turn around.

But the Markesharks ARE in that business. They DO purposely lead you into those schemes. IT’S WHAT THEY DO FOR A LIVING. And fake Online Wholesale Directories are one of their FAVORITE places to live!

WHY do they do this? Simple. They make lots of money. They like that. YOU don’t make any money, but why should they care about that? They’re Markesharks, and they think they’re smarter than you are. (Not true…but they DO actually think that).

HOW DO THEY DO IT?

Well, to paraphrase Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning (and certainly no disrespect to her or that marvelous poem…) “How do they cheat thee? Let me count the ways…”

  1. They use fake wholesale directories sold at cheap prices to gather your personal information, which they then sell to telemarketing companies who bombard you with “Easy Online Success” offers from now until the end of time. Whenever those telemarketers successfully rip you off for thousands of dollars, they kick a bunch of that money BACK to the Markesharks for providing your personal information.
  2. They purposely fill fake wholesale directories sold at cheap prices with fake wholesalers who jack up product prices so high that you can’t make a real profit, and then they kick back a percentage of those profits on a monthly basis to the Markesharks who sucked you in to their sordid little scheme.
  3. They use fake wholesale directories to suck you further into their OWN sordid little schemes, like “We’ll build your website, do your marketing and social media for you, set up your business and walk your dog once a day for only $35,000! And then, of course, they’ll do NONE of that, but they already have your signature on a contract.
  4. They charge you monthly or annual fees that get larger and larger, BUT they didn’t tell you about those fees when you signed up with that “Low, Low Price!”

There are more, but I think you begin to get the picture. Markesharks are totally ruthless, unscrupulous people who DO NOT CARE what happens to you or your business, as long as they get PAID (the more the better, from as many scam connections as possible).

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU’VE BEEN SUCKED IN?

If you own one of the fake wholesale directories pushed by the Markesharks, here’s how you can tell:

  1. The “wholesalers” you contact don’t seem to know what they’re doing; they sound like some kid living in his parents’ basement munching Cheetos and playing online games.
  2. The “wholesalers” you contact have NEVER HEARD OF the “directory” that sent you to them.
  3. Most of the “wholesalers” you try to contact CAN’T be contacted. Sometimes the phone numbers are disconnected or never answer and don’t go to voicemail, sometimes they don’t exist and just go “bleep-bleep-bleep! and disconnect, or the person who DOES answer shrieks “Is that YOU again, Arthur?? I TOLD you not to call me anymore!”
  4. Mysterious charges begin to appear on your credit card statement and you find out that the “directory” you bought for $67 actually costs $1400 a YEAR, FOREVER.
  5. A few days after you buy the fake wholesale directory, you start getting phone calls out of the blue from companies you’ve never heard of who tell you they can make you AMAZINGLY RICH overnight with their ONLINE SUCCESS PROGRAMS that end up costing anywhere from $15,000 to $40,000 and delivering NOTHING by the time they’re done beating you over the head with it.

Again, there are more ways to tell, but you get the idea, and you ARE smarter than the Markesharks, so it will become obvious to you pretty quickly that somebody has cheated you.

SO WHAT DO YOU DO TO FIND THOSE CRITICAL WHOLESALE SOURCES YOU NEED?

You buy a REAL Wholesale Sourcing Directory.

How do you FIND a REAL Wholesale Sourcing Directory?

That’s easy. There’s only ONE. Okay, I’m going to paraphrase Bogart now. Bear with me…”Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, walk into MINE. Play it, Sam”. (Please imagine “As Time Goes BY” playing softly on the piano in the background…).

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. “Here comes the pitch, and how do I know THIS isn’t a scam too?!”

Well, this is serious business and it’s IMPORTANT to you, which means it’s IMPORTANT TO ME.

I am not a Markeshark. I’ve actually OWNED a REAL Wholesale Supply Company. I’ve also been in business in many ways online for 24 years, and I do not lie to or cheat my customers. I started the Worldwide Brands Drop Ship and Wholesale Directory 18 YEARS AGO. (18 years…think about that. That’s 126 years in dog years. It’s 648 Generations of Dragonflies. That’s a LONG time!).

In fact, Worldwide Brands is the ORIGINAL and longest-lived online EBiz Wholesale Directory on the planet. It is the INDUSTRY STANDARD that thousands upon thousands of successful home-Based ECommerce Business Owners have started their businesses with.

HERE’S HOW WE’RE DIFFERENT

  1. Like the Phone Company, we research, verify and continuously update EVERY wholesale company we list. 2. We list ONLY LEGITIMATE wholesalers who have ALREADY AGREED to work with Home-based business owners. 3. When you contact our wholesalers, they KNOW WHO WE ARE and are happy to do business with you. 4. We charge a ONE TIME, LIFETIME ownership fee. Pay once, and you’re done. NO hidden monthly or annual fees. 5. We NEVER give, share or sell your personal information with ANYONE ELSE, for ANY reason.  6. We currently list more than EIGHT THOUSAND REAL wholesalers who represent more than FIFTEEN MILLION wholesale products you can sell online.

That simply doesn’t exist ANYWHERE else. We are the ONLY one of our kind. We know that because our Team is constantly checking out every online operation that calls itself a “wholesale directory”, and we have NEVER found another 100% legitimate company in this business.

THIS IS SOMETHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

While this email may seem self-serving for US, it’s much more important for YOU. You NEED TO KNOW if your business is failing, or is not performing as well as it should because you have bad wholesale information. Your wholesale suppliers directly drive your profit margin, and nothing in a legitimate business model is as important as profit margin.

If you’re a Worldwide Brands Member, you already know all this and you’re already working with legit wholesale suppliers who provide you with good profit margins. If you’re not, you really should be. It’s a whole world of difference that’ll change your business dramatically.

In fact, for a limited time (until this Friday the 21st at midnight) I’ll give you $25 bucks off our already excellent one-time-lifetime price, just for having the patience to read this! Go here for the discount; http://www.worldwidebrands.com/wbisave

Next,  we’ll talk about “5 things you MUST know about EBiz Wholesale Sources”, Day 2: DO ALL WHOLESALERS WORK WITH HOME-BASED BUSINESSES?

Sourcing for Independence! Selling What Your Source [7]

July 5th, 2017

This is the seventh & final post in our Sourcing for Independence series! Welcome back! Did you miss the others? Click here to check them out.

Also on our blog, I write up a lot of helpful tips about selling products online. We don’t just talk about sourcing or wholesalers here. So be sure to browse around and I love to read comments left by readers, so keep those coming!

When you have found great suppliers to work with and chosen the right products to sell, then you need to sell them right. Presenting the products in the right way and writing up UNIQUE good descriptions are key to online selling success.

With so many things being automated these days, a lot of sites lose out on that personal presentation of the products. In order to cater to your demographic, and to stand out on the search engines, you have to write your own product descriptions.

Here on the blog, several times, I have talked about the dangers of using datafeeds. Sure, these are great to quickly upload a large amount of products onto your site, but you’re damaging your ability to rise to the top of the search engines.

Search engines, like Google, will in their way “penalize” sites that use the same information. They call this duplicate content. When someone is searching for something, Google doesn’t know the best site to show their user because so many sites will have the same exact product information listed. So they choose popular, highly visited websites instead. As a small business owner, this will greatly hurt your business because you can’t compete with those sites already getting a lot of attention. So if you want to use a datafeed, before you upload, rewrite the descriptions!

When you rewrite the descriptions, keep your demographic in mind. If you are selling to women, ages 20 to 30, then the verbiage you use would cater to them. If you are selling to women ages 50 to 60, your descriptions would look different. Same as if you were selling to men. Men would want to read things differently than women. So always keep this in mind when crafting your descriptions.

I wrote up a series of posts about Brand Archetypes. Such as; The Jester, The Caregiver, The Ruler, The Explorer and etc. and gave tips and advice on how larger brands market to those types of demographics. Brand archetypes are based on Carl Jung’s idea on how humans use symbolism to understand their world and he identified 12 personas that make up the people in our world. You would identify the persona that you are selling to, and then choose the subset of that persona as your demographic.

For example, if you were selling survival gear, you would want to market those products to those with the Explorer persona. If you find that most people that purchase survival gear are men, ages 20 to 50, then you would cater your descriptions based on that.

Identifying the persona, and the demographic, also helps you to choose or create the right images and graphics that you would use across your entire website and the right images to choose for your product pictures. Even color schemes! All of these things are important to the development of your website. Choosing your archetypes and demographics also helps with your marketing ideas. PPC’s, banners, ad campaigns and etc. With large companies these are all created with archetypes and demographics in mind.

Don’t try to be an end all buy all solution for everyone. You just end up muddying the waters and you will spend a lot of time constantly working on your site, SEO and advertising. As a small business owner, you can’t expect to be another Walmart.com. You are usually working on all this yourself, so that’s another reason why we recommend NICHE websites and finding your niche as indicated in #3 – Choosing What to Sell.

A niche site, catered around a persona and a set demographic do really well online and are perfect for small business owners. If you want to sell different products, then work on another niche site! You CAN have more than one website selling products online! You can also multi-channel sell on websites, eBay, Amazon, Sears.com and more! So there are a lot of opportunities for you.

But the first place to start, is finding wholesalers to use so you know the types of products that are available to you.

Sourcing for Independence! Sourcing for Your Online Store [6]

July 5th, 2017

Happy Fourth of July! This message was sent to our subscribers yesterday, but our offices were closed to celebrate our national holiday. So I’m posting it today.

While we are firing up the grill and waiting to watch some awesome fireworks, I’m going to keep this one short so you can get back to celebrating!

When you run your own online store, using a hosting provider like Yahoo, Shopify, BigCommerce and etc., you have the ability to work with A LOT more wholesale suppliers that sellers on eBay or Amazon do.

Why? Because the supplier knows you are a SERIOUS retailer at this point. You have to spend a lot more money to start and run an online store than with the other platforms, so the suppliers know that you are serious about wanting to sell their products too.

To run an online store, you have to pay for hosting, domain name, get a merchant account and more. Can’t get more serious online than that!

So short and sweet, ALL of the listed suppliers in our Directory will work with online store owners.

Take advantage of our Independence Sale! The Discount ends tonight!

Sourcing for Independence! Sourcing for Amazon [5]

July 3rd, 2017

This is the fifth post in our Sourcing for Independence series! Welcome back! Did you miss the others?  Click here to check them out.

This email is about sourcing to sell on Amazon. Amazon is a great selling platform, but just like eBay, it’s a competitive price driven marketplace. Even if you don’t sell on Amazon, read this anyway for some tips!

I had the honor of visiting the Amazon corporate offices in Seattle many years ago when they first launched their FBA program (Fulfillment by Amazon) and got to meet with department heads and get a walk-through of their new service before they launched it. I had the opportunity to give them some feedback and understand the process and how valuable it could be for online sellers. I still feel that it’s a valuable service if you sell on Amazon or even if you don’t, because they do offer multi-channel fulfillment. So yes, if you own an online store, you can still use FBA to stock and ship your orders for you.

Amazon has many fulfillment centers around the country and abroad, and their shipping speed is very reliable!

In order to use FBA, you have to buy in bulk, each product has to be registered with Amazon, have its own UPC code/labels, and you have the products shipped to them. They store the products in their fulfillment centers and ship your orders. Some other great things about FBA is that they co-mingle the products. For example, if 50 sellers are selling the same thing, and they get the products from those 50 sellers, they will put them all in the same section or take those products and spread them out to different fulfillment centers because they end up with a lot of them. They also move products around based on demand. For example, if they find that most people that buy swimsuits are in Florida, they will move a large majority of the inventory to a fulfillment center closer to Florida for faster shipping.

The last thing I’m going to say about FBA is that using that service, means you can also add the sought after PRIME tag for free shipping to your products for Prime members.

Now, back to sourcing for Amazon, which was the original purpose of this post. 🙂   Just like eBay, it’s harder to compete since it’s a price driven market. So you have to find products that many other sellers aren’t selling (stay away from products that Amazon offers too) Because not only are you competing with third party sellers on Amazon, you are also competing with Amazon!

So you have to research, research and RESEARCH to find the right products to sell.

Just like eBay, there are many wholesale suppliers that don’t allow sales by Amazon sellers. Many brand names sell directly on Amazon, so they won’t allow you to sell there and others avoid the platform all together because they feel that it could possibly devalue their products. However, Amazon is a step above eBay in seller quality. They want more business oriented sellers there, and not just garage sale sellers. All products need to be brand new, still in original packaging and everything must be labeled properly. So many wholesale suppliers that don’t allow eBay sales will allow Amazon sales.

Again, just like selling on eBay, we recommend that you do price comparison shopping. Check dropshipping wholesale prices, versus light bulk wholesale prices. If the prices are close to the same, go with dropshipping. If the prices are different, even by $5.00 or more, then go with light bulk. Every dollar counts for a small online business! Check into FBA if you decide to go with light bulk so you don’t have to invest in the time to ship the products out. Check your costs, because not only do you have to have stocking space, but you have to buy shipping materials too. So the cost of using FBA may seem more reasonable once you factor in the overhead costs you would incur directly if you did it yourself.

We list suppliers in our Directory that work with Amazon sellers! Dropshippers and Light Bulk Suppliers that are willing to work with Amazon sellers. We even list some suppliers that specialize in shipping to FBA.

Sourcing for Independence! Sourcing for eBay [4]

June 30th, 2017

This is the fourth post in our Sourcing for Independence series! Welcome back! Did you miss the others?  Click here to check them out.

This one is about turning your eBay seller account from a hobby into a business. Even if you don’t sell on eBay, read this anyway because you can still learn some valuable tips!

eBay is a great selling platform to get started selling online. They are easy to use, low cost, and best of all, you can start with things around your home first to understand how the process works. Plus, you get that valuable seller feedback you need and it’s very easy to STOP if you decide that you no longer want to sell online, or if you want to venture into other selling areas.

One of the great things about eBay, is that you don’t have to know anything about what you are selling. As long as you have a great description, and provide great images, customers will probably not contact you about it. (same for an online store!)

But what do you do when you have exhausted selling things from around your house, or from garage sales? Work with genuine wholesale suppliers of course!

Now, a BIG thing to remember, when you sell on platforms like eBay, many wholesale suppliers will not want to work with you. eBay is a price driven marketplace. Buyers go after the lowest priced products they can so many companies feel that eBay devalues their products, because everyone is always undercutting each other.

Your sourcing methods impact your prices.

Dropship Suppliers, selling one item at a time to you and shipping that product to your end customer for you, the wholesale cost is higher than if you purchase in bulk.

Light Bulk wholesalers (we coined this term), is a wholesale supplier willing to sell with lower minimum orders so you can get into the market. We list suppliers with minimum orders of $500.00 or less so you can stock and ship your own inventory, and you get better pricing, because you are purchasing in quantities.

Volume wholesalers, sell in larger volumes, like $1000 or more. You are usually buying all case packs of products. Volume wholesalers will post their tier pricing for you so you can see what the discounts are the more you buy.

Liquidators, offer store returns & overstocks. When you buy from a liquidator, you usually are buying pallet loads of products and they differ in price depending on “what” the products are on the pallet  and the amount of “what” is on the pallet. You are never guaranteed if all the products on the pallet are good to sell, meaning, they aren’t busted or don’t work, but the majority of the products are fine. But you have to take the time to inspect and test each one before you offer it for sale. However, this is a great way to get brand name products that you can’t normally get to resell, even if they aren’t new in the package.

It is highly recommended to compare dropshipping prices, with light bulk prices. If the costs are close to the same, then go with dropshipping so you don’t have to hold that inventory.

In order to compete on eBay, you have to get creative if you can’t offer the lowest price, especially when working with dropshippers. If you buy in bulk and stock your own inventory you generally get better pricing so you can be more flexible with your offer. In the world of wholesale, the more you buy, the cheaper each individual item gets.

If you can’t afford to hold inventory, and really want to use dropshipping suppliers, you need to offer incentives to the buyers on eBay to get them to want to purchase from you or BUNDLE products together to make it look like a better deal.

For example, don’t offer just one chair, offer a set of chairs. Don’t just offer candles; offer a case of candles or candles plus candle holders. Don’t just offer a bathroom rug; offer a set of bathroom rugs or maybe even matching towels and a shower curtain. It’s all about perception.

Incentives can be a discount from you the next time they buy, or a gift certificate to buy something from you later.

We do list suppliers in our Directory that work with eBay sellers!   So turn your eBay hobby business into a REAL business by working with genuine wholesale suppliers.

If you aren’t a member yet, we are running an Independence Day Discount, so now is great time to join!

Sourcing for Independence! Choosing What to Sell [3]

June 29th, 2017

This is the third post in our Sourcing for Independence series! Welcome back! Did you miss the other two? I put them on our blog for you to read. Check them out here in the blog.

In the first we talked about what sourcing actually is and the second, the importance of getting legal. This one, it’s all about Choosing What to Sell. This is very important to the success of your business and it honestly doesn’t really matter where you want to sell. The methods are still mainly the same.

Most online businesses fail, because the seller immediately wants to sell products that are already saturated online or have their heart set on products they can’t legally get to resell. Don’t make this mistake!

Two of my more popular blog posts: “Do Your Homework before Deciding What to Sell Online” & “Just Because Someone Else is Selling it, Doesn’t Mean You Can!”  has opened many online sellers’ eyes as to why they should avoid many things that they love or things that they just have this gut feeling would sell well. You can’t trust your “gut” on this and often times you can’t sell what you love. You really have to do product research!

Market Research in a nutshell is deciding if a product will:
1. Make you money and
2. Fit your budget

You have to do keyword research, competition research, profit research and advertising research.
Keyword Research is how customers will find you.

Competition Research is checking out the other sellers in your space and checking to see if you can compete with them and learn from them.

Pricing Research helps to identify your profit margins, inventory requirements and break-even points.

Advertising research helps you to understand traffic costs like the cost of keywords to use if you decide to pay for advertising.

All of these things help you determine if a product is a good idea to sell and if it will fit your budget to sell them. Many new online sellers have to rely on paid advertising for customers to find you more quickly and while your site gets better indexed in the search engines for your SEO keywords. All of the research you conduct also helps with your SEO!

What types of products SHOULD you research? Well obviously stay away from mainstream products like electronics or brand name clothing. These products are already highly saturated, and guess what? You usually can’t find a dropshipper for these! Competitors that sell electronics and brand name clothing have BIG budgets & are usually required to buy in large volumes from the suppliers. You simply cannot compete in these particular product arenas.

You have to find your niche and build your site around that niche. Niches are focused, non-mainstream products that are perfect for small online business owners. Many large companies don’t offer a lot of different niche products & there are still PLENTY of customers out there for those products. Plus, since the larger companies aren’t focused on those products, you can afford to advertise.

To identify a Niche Product, you have to drill down to the niche. That means making lists of products to get to it.

1. Main Product Category like Baby Products
2. Sub-Category like Baby Food, Baby Health, Baby Transportation, Baby Toys, Educational Baby Products and etc.
3. Take one of those sub-categories and research that. Like Transportation.
4. Niche products would be:  carriers, strollers, car seats, slings and etc.

Another example:
1. Main Category: Home Décor
2. Sub-Categories; Lighting, Wall Décor, Furniture, Bedrooms, Bath, Kitchen, Floor Items.. etc.
3. Take one of those sub-categories like Floor Items and research that.
4. Niche products would be; tiles, carpeting, floor mats, hardwood, throw rugs, area rugs etc..

To get ideas of what to sell to then conduct your research, you should really start with the wholesalers you have available to you and that you KNOW will supply you products as an online store owner.

So where you do find those? With a Worldwide Brands Directory membership of course! Get access to over 8000 wholesale suppliers that represent more than 16 MILLION product types and we add new suppliers every business day!

Members also get Product Research Help in the Market Research section! We have worked with a great company for learning how to pick the right products to sell, (check out Sell Niches here!) It’s a truly valuable resource to our members and you don’t have to take our word for it. You can read what people have to say in our Member’s Only Forum too when you are a member.

Sourcing for Independence! Getting Started [2]

June 27th, 2017

This is the second post in our Sourcing for Independence series! Welcome back! Did you miss the first one? Click here to check it out.

Getting Started:
Whether you are doing this part time of full time, the main thing to remember is that you need to be a legal business.

That’s right, whether it’s a hobby or a full time effort, if you aren’t legal then you can’t legally work with genuine wholesale suppliers. It doesn’t matter where you sell either, it matters WHO you work with.

If you truly want to buy wholesale products, if you aren’t a legal business, these wholesalers will simply turn you down for an account. Why? Because they need to have a record of who you are for their tax reporting.

When you buy wholesale products from a wholesale supplier, they aren’t charging you sales taxes. They have to report to the government WHY they didn’t charge sales for your orders and your tax ID number is what they supply to show proof of that.

Remember:
If a “wholesale supplier” doesn’t ask for a tax ID, they are usually doing something bad for your business. They could be sneaking the sales tax into the “wholesale price” and that just lowers your profit margin. Or, they’re not a TRUE wholesale supplier and just a middleman passing the orders to the real supplier and providing the supplier with THEIR tax ID information. Either way, your profit margins are lowered because a middleman always increases prices so they can make more profit and that leaves your business struggling to compete and the middleman is succeeding.

Now, this doesn’t apply to EVERY wholesaler out there. Some wholesale suppliers are in tax exempt States and others are overseas. But use that as a general rule of thumb when looking for suppliers to use or you can use a Directory like ours where we have already verified the suppliers are REAL wholesale suppliers and work with retailers that sell online.

Getting Legal:
Becoming a legal business is not hard and many States make it really easy with online forms and low costs.

1. Determine the business entity & name your business:
Whether you decide to start a corporation or a fictitious name or DBA (doing business as), you have to file this with your state. Many states have these forms online, so you can do a search for Register a Business in ____ and fill the blank with your state name. Look for sites that end with .gov or .org in the search results for government related sites and not other sites pushing you to buy their service to do this. You can set up many types of entities on your own. If you decide a Corporation is the way to go, you may need to consult a lawyer for help. But your State website will give you the forms to do it yourself. The Fee for this can run anywhere from $25.00 to $200.00 or more depending on the level of business you start.

2. Get a Tax ID:
A Tax ID is called different things in different States. Sometimes called a Sales & Use tax ID, or Seller’s Permit, or Reseller Certificate and etc. Basically it’s an ID number that allows you to buy wholesale products without getting taxed and to charge sales tax to customers in your State. Do this after you get your business name registered. You can find the forms for this your State’s Department of Revenue site. So just do a search for that to locate it. The fee for this can run anywhere from $0.00 to $50.00 in most States.

Once you get legal, then you can legally work with REAL wholesale suppliers, get REAL wholesale pricing and you are on the right path to success.

Sourcing for Independence! [Introduction 1]

June 26th, 2017

The United States Independence Day is fast approaching and we wanted to share with you some great ways to “Source for Independence”!

This is the first post in a series, so make sure to check them out as they get delivered to you! This is the introductory. The following posts in this series will contain a lot of helpful information for your business.

So what do we mean by Sourcing for Independence?

To Source means;
Obtain from a particular source or to find out where (something) can be obtained.

Independence means:
Freedom from the control, influence, support, aid or the like from others.

So Sourcing for Independence means finding reputable suppliers, to help your online business become successful, so you can be financially independent!

Most people start an online business to supplement their income as a part time job or they want to own their own business and work on it full time to be their main source of income.

However, you decide to do it, you need genuine reputable supplier sources for your chosen selling platform. Whether that is eBay, Amazon or on your own website, you need REAL wholesale sources supplying you with genuine wholesale products and real wholesale prices.

The basic supply chain is:
1. Manufacturers make the products and a lot of manufacturers will sell wholesale to retailers and others send their products to Authorized Distributors and never to retailers directly.

2. Authorized Distributors have large warehouses and offer products from different manufacturers. So you can get variety of products and brands with a distributor that you can’t get with working with the manufacturer directly. Authorized Distributors will sell to retailers and to wholesalers.

3. Wholesalers sell to retailers and also to other wholesalers, creating sub-wholesalers.

As you move down the supply chain, the wholesale prices increase. These companies have to make money too! So getting to the highest tier of the supply chain is where you find the best pricing.

It’s difficult to find genuine wholesale sources if you search online. Search results are full of middlemen, fake and fraud suppliers and they are GREAT at getting their sites to the top of the search engines because they are marketers, not wholesale suppliers. So don’t use keywords like wholesale products or dropshippers when searching online. Most legitimate suppliers do not go after these keywords, and rely on trade shows and Directories to get their names out there to retailers.

We have had many members of the years give us horror stories about companies they thought were genuine wholesale suppliers, but ended up being a middleman constantly upselling other services that they just NEEDED to have or a fake supplier that just ran away with their money.

So where do you find REAL wholesale sources willing to work with online retailers? Trade shows is a great start and that’s where we get most of the wholesalers in our Directory.

You can do this yourself of course! But there is a lot of legwork involved. Not all suppliers will work with online retailers and not all will dropship. So be prepared for a lot of NO’s.

Cut out all that extra work by getting a membership to our Directory of WBI Certified Wholesalers and Dropshippers. We have already done this work for you, and as everyone knows, Time=Money.
