3 Critical Dangers of Drop Shipping (Plus a Free Gift)

May 1st, 2009

Using Drop Shippers to send products directly to your EBiz Customers from the wholesale warehouses is an extremely popular way to sell online, since there’s virtually no cost to get started. However, there are three critical dangers in Drop Shipping that will ruin your business, and you really need to know what you’re doing if you’re going to use Drop Shippers.

I’m going to give you the solutions to avoiding these and LOTS of other dangerous Drop Shipping issues absolutely FREE & I’m going to give you Drop Ship Focus for Free.

Critical Danger #1: The wholesale price of Drop Shipped products is higher than buying them in bulk (several at a time). This is because the Drop Shipper does most of the work for you (packing, shipping, etc.) and charges for that extra work. You need to learn how to price Drop Shipped products competitively in the right markets; otherwise you won’t make any sales.

Critical Danger #2: You should only be using ONE Drop Shipper per web site. If you use multiple Drop Ship suppliers on your web site, you run the very real risk of your Customers ordering products from different Drop Shippers in the same order. The danger here is that since your Customer’s products are coming from different Drop Ship wholesalers, they (or YOU) will be charged for shipping several times over. If this happens, you WILL lose the sale.

Critical Danger #3: Drop Shipping is a low cost ENTRY POINT into a successful online business, but is not meant to be a permanent solution. Most people don’t realize this, and don’t use Drop Shipping correctly in order to advance their business to more profitable stages.

So, those are three of the Critical Dangers of using Drop Shippers. There are others. Don’t despair, though; there IS hope, and plenty of it!  I’m going to show you how to avoid those dangers and many more so that you can make YOUR EBiz as profitable as possible, and put the most cash in your pocket. AND, I’m going to do it for FREE.

  11. Moshe: I’m sorry. I have been on assignment in Europe for the last three weeks. This is the first time I am seeing you Blog post. Currently http://www.worldwidebrands.com is set up to provide strong support for businesses selling in the USA. We have a very limited number of businesses offering drop shipping in Israel. If you can establish a business in the USA you will be able to export to Israel. However shipping costs to Israel must be added to the price of your product so you need to be careful about selecting and pricing the products you sell in Israel. For further information, if you are a http://www.worldwidebrands.com customer, you can contact our customer support group at: info@worldwidebrands.com for more information.

  12. There are many products that you cannot obtain with dropshipping. You will have to purchase the products in bulk in order to resell them. So don’t be surprised if many of the things you are looking for, we do not have a drop ship supplier listed in the database. But we may have a light bulk supplier listed.

Also, you may want to re-look at the types of products that you want to offer and change to something that there IS a supplier listed for.

To get your mind spinning, have you taken a look at the ENOURMOUS amount of competition there is in the weight loss field? Everywhere you look there is someone selling some kind of weight loss miracle. You will find it hard to compete in this arena.

    So what can you do?

Use the Product Sourcing Tool to find the products that are currently being offered by the drop ship suppliers.
Carefully look at the Market Research results that show for those products.

Take a look at your main competition to see if you can actually compete.

If you are thoroughly convinced that selling weight loss products is a good idea, then you can use the Can’t Find It link on the top right of the Product Sourcing Tool to send in your request. But again, keep in mind, that we may not find dropshippers for those products but we might find light bulk wholesale suppliers that would qualify.

  13. Hi.
    I want to register.
In order to do that I understand that I need a TAX ID.
    I am from Israel.
I have a legitimate business in Israel, so this is shouldn’t be a problem.
I just want to make sure that the suppliers will accept my TAX ID (I supposed it is not the exact same thing they familiar with, it’s probably little bit different)
I want to ask you honestly… If I am from Israel, can I still compete the EBAY seller, or the chines?
Do I really have a chance?
The import of stuff to here and then send them probably make it less profitable and competitive…
I will be happy if you help me to start my business… but please tell me before I start all this adventure,DO I HAVE CHANCE TO EARN SOMETHING (If I am here in israel?)
(ohhh… and the tax ID issue…)
The sropshipping i want to do is to US buyers, not Israel.
Will I be able to do that with your dropshippers?
Will they work with me if I don’t have partner who resides in the US, or a US Corporation?
I really want to start my Ecommerce business with your suppliers and dropshippers, but before I am paying for your service I want to make sure that some dropshippers (I know not all of them) will work with me.

    Thank you.
    Ron.

  14. Ron,

You will want to work with the dropshippers that accept international retailer applications. Look in the comments section of each supplier listing. You’re better off setting up a US Based entity. We’ll be talking about tax ids and setting up a us based business in our free webinar on Monday. I suggest attending the free webinar.

I am member of Salehoo but I have not found good suppler for Electronic Products..yet ?? Chinavason is genuine but lot of their products no Brand name.. plus their shipping is very costly..!!
If anybody knows any supplers for mp4 player, ipods, spy cameras..etc. would be highly appreciated. Iam based in UK

  20. Tom,

Please go to http://www.worldwidebrands.com/freelisting and fill out an application. A researcher will contact you or you can call the 877 202 6247 toll free line and request to speach with supplier research.

    Comment by Colette Marshall — October 15, 2009 @ 11:01 am

  21. Tapas, Electronics is going to be a very difficult category to find wholesale of brand name electronics mainly because of the manufacturer’s requirements and limitations. For example, you have to be an authorized reselerr to sell Ipods and Apple products. Worldwide Brands does have suppliers for products like spy cameras, but you won’t find any suppliers that have high minimum orders or require authorized reseller accounts such as Apple. Here is an article about why you can’t get ipods for wholesale that I recommend you read: http://www.worldwidebrands.com/WWB/wholesale-electronics.asp

  25. I’m certainly getting ready to set up my very own dropship home business. I really need additional tips concerning wholesale agency, better for china shop. Anyone have hints best places to grab one ?

    Comment by Nita Burka — April 15, 2012 @ 1:12 am

  26. Hi Nita,

Do you mean that you are looking for wholesale suppliers for your retail business in China? Our service does cater to retailers outside the US as well, but the bulk of our listed suppliers are in the US & Canada. So you would have to either have the suppliers drop ship for you (if they offer it) or purchase in smaller bulk quantities and have the products sent to you. Another source that we like for quaility suppliers is Global Sources. They focus on international wholesale suppliers and perform verfifications on companies like we do to protect from scams.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
